Who Am I

After a long career as a university professor, I am now focusing on my passion for food. In 2019 I became one of Canada’s very few Certified Master Food Preservers (Cornell University ext). I live on a small acreage north of Toronto Canada where I tend nine raised vegetable gardens and enjoy sourcing my foods in the beautiful Beaver Valley area. With a background in health science, I am committed to using scientific methods as well as food preservation recipes that are current and from authoritative sources. To me, science is how we ensure safety. Where I get creative is when I’m using my preserved foods in cooking, home products or crafts. I am a preserver, author, and teacher with a mission to help people develop knowledge, skills and confidence to safely preserve wholesome foods at home.
